Illustration of Indiana with a sunflower labeled "SOS" beaming light over a city and farm scene. Text reads: "Summer of Solidarity – Freedom. Democracy. Truth."

FREEDOM. DEMOCRACY. TRUTH.

Our freedoms and our communities are being threatened by actions at all levels of government.

In response, a broad, people-powered movement is forming across Indiana. Everyday Hoosiers across the state are recognizing something is broken in our government, and it doesn’t have to be this way. To build momentum for this movement, we invite you to participate in a “Summer of Solidarity” from Flag Day (6/14) through the "official" last day of Summer (9/21) 2025 (#SOS2025). Together, we can build a better future for our families and communities.

Joy Is Resistance! Sunflowers painted on fences, democracy book groups, honest  1:1 conversations about the impact of our recent legislative session, and the DOGE attack on our institutions will help bridge the manufactured differences that have separated us as citizens.  We are bound together in our humanity, and the people are not okay. We know relational outreach is 10x more impactful for changing hearts and minds than getting AI-generated texts and phone calls from strangers. What brings you joy? Share that with others! Let's remind each other of our shared humanity. All with a dash of Hoosier Hospitality!

“It’s in the Union of People, around a common set of values, that’s all that stands between democracy and authoritarianism, so that at the end of the day all we’ve really got is each other.” - Bruce Springsteen, Land of Hopes & Dreams Tour (Manchester, UK)

WHAT IS #SOS2025?

  • A call to reclaim patriotism and reassert truth, decency, and democracy.
  • A big tent invitation - open to progressives, independents, centrists, and anyone tired of extremism.
  • A summer-long campaign culminating in civic engagement events.

This campaign offers a common theme and simple framework–how you participate is up to you. It is our hope that grassroots groups, civic organizations, community groups, places of worship, businesses, and individuals make use of the logo, symbols, and guides to help build a collective sense of solidarity and unity in the everyday activities and events of an Indiana summer.

Wherever you look, let there be a sunflower or invitation to connect with one another in solidarity for what we love most about this land of the free, and what we are willing to do to protect our hard-won freedoms.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

#SOS2025 is a people-powered movement built around a simple idea:  When democracy is in danger, we respond together.

This summer, we are showing up loudly, boldly, and creatively to say: We will not be divided.
